How giving time away, can actually give you more time.

How giving time away can actually give you more. Sounds like a bit of a paradox right? But bear with me on this one....
I used to always feel I was battling with time - never enough hours in the day, and constantly feeling in "flight or fight". Missing out on my favorite chats, always rushing to get to the next meeting or back to my desk to my mile long to do list.
How many times have you told yourself, or others "I'm so busy at the moment, I just don't have enough time"?.
I've been working on a ton of things that have made such a difference to feeling "time-poor", but one that I'd like to share with you right now is how I discovered giving time away can actually help feel like you have more! :-o
The company I work in my day job gives us 2 days off a year for charity work (brilliant right?!) - but I'd not taken 1 since I've been there...
So the other week I took the morning off work to help out at a coffee & cake event for a local charity.
For 4 hours myself and a colleague made round after round of tea and coffee, refilling cups like it was going out of fashion. I chatted and connected with people I would never usually get the opportunity to meet (and I didn't check my email or messages once...).
I found that by activity giving away my time to another cause, I felt abundant! Like I had so much time I could give it away for free!
Right before posting this, I did a little Googling on the topic and found there is a whole Harvard Business Review on this theory. They found in their studies that:
"People who give time away feel more capable, confident, and useful. They feel they’ve accomplished something and, therefore, that they can accomplish more in the future. And this self-efficacy makes them feel that time is more expansive." HBV
Do you want to find "more time"? Get in touch if you too want to feel abundance!
